Along the route, you will discover the Costa Brava, the Pyrenees and their most emblematic peaks, the volcanic area of La Garrotxa, Romanesque villages and medieval towns. The visit to the Estany de Banyoles begins with the ascent of the two most emblematic peaks in the area: Mare de Déu del Mont and Rocacorba. At the end of the route, you will be able to taste a special meal to recover your strength.
The route starts in Girona in the direction of Les Gavarres, an area of natural interest very close to the Costa Brava. You will visit maritime towns along the road with one of the best views of the tour until you reach the coastal town of Tossa de Mar. You will finish the itinerary with the feeling of having enjoyed unique places between the sea and the mountains.
At this stage you will rest your legs. You will visit Palamós with a boat trip along the coast and enjoy a guided tour of the Bell-Lloc winery.
Today it’s time to warm up our legs so we can reach the top of Vallter 2000. A climb that beginsin the town of Besalú, where the Romanesque bridge will be the starting point, and continues to one of the most charming valleys, La Vall del Bac. From then on, everything will be a great show for your eyes when you reach the great summit of Vallter. At the end of the stage, you will be rewarded with a meal in the town of Setcases.
The medieval towns are very close to the city of Girona and the best way to get there is to climb Els Àngels, an easy climb. Awsome panoramic view offered by this natural space, you will be able to appreciate the areas you have visited throughout your trip and visualize the entire relief ofthe Costa Brava up to the orography of the Pyrenees. From then on, you will start to go through a selection of fantastic medieval towns with an impressive conservation of streets and houses. Once you arrive in the village of Púbol, Gala Dalí Castle will take you into the fascinating life of the wife of the artist Salvador Dalí.
A final stage is waiting for you to pedal through the volcanic area of La Garrotxa. The best volcanic landscape in the Iberian Peninsula, with about forty volcanic cones and more than 20 lava flows. The approach to Girona through the Vall de Llémena, will be a great discovery to complete the 5 days tour you will have done in Girona.
